Lord,

We lift up our hearts and minds in thanks and praise to you for another opportunity to love and serve you and your people this day. We ask for your divine mercy and care for all our brothers and sisters who are out of work and are concerned about their abilities to support their familes and themselves. We ask that you send them your peace and help them to persevere in the face of adversity and worry about this situation in their lives. Please help them to find the basic dignity in work that all of your people need and deserve as your children, and help those who can provide work to reach and employ those in most need of work. Help all of us to do everything we can to assist those who are out of work in their job search, and to take risks and make recommendations to help your people who might not otherwise have the door of employment opened to them. Please bless the job search efforts and hear the prayers of the many who need your love most now.

You govern your creation, O God,
and bring it to perfection by the work of our hands.
Hear the prayers of your people who ask for work
that will enhance their human signity
and promote the upbuilding of your kingdom.
Enable them to provide for those confided to their care
either by family ties or by charity we owe to one another
for the betterment of human life.

Jesus we ask Your merciful aid for all those who are seeking employment.

Jesus, in Your early life you needed Joseph to find work in order to support You and Your Mother. He had to leave the work he supported Mary with during her pregnancy, to then find work in a foreign country where he didn’t even know the language; and then again when he took Your family to Nazareth. Later, others supported You by their charity, during Your public mission.

In Your understanding of human needs, please grant our prayers for reliable work for
It is such a difficult time, with so many out of work and looking for jobs, and limited opportunities available. God forgive those who by their mismanagement and greed caused the economic difficulties that much of the world is now enduring, with the great anxiety and suffering it causes so many individuals and families.

Please help job seekers to stay positive and hopeful, and to find purpose as they look for work. Help them to present themselves well and wisely in their applications and interviews.
