For Father D who is in poor condition

We went to our parish penance service last evening.

There were seven priests one of whom is Father D.

He has been helping out for a number of years.

He’s retired … was a military chaplain and he used to help bring back wounded soldiers from the battle field. The enemy used him as a target by their snipers.

We have known him for ten years and he is the most gentle confessor in the world. Just me talking, but sometimes I think he “introjects” my sins into himself.

His parents died recently and he did a memorial Mass for them and was stricken.

He has had many many major surgeries including cancer. But last night he looked terrible.

At Mass last Sunday, he started using his cane again. And he had difficulty negotiating the steps up to the altar platform.

Anyway, during confession, a retired nurse went to him and in a few minutes she came out, got the other penitents to pick another line, came over to the pastor * and briefed the pastor on Fr. D’s situation. My wife had just been to confession to Father D. and she noted his condition.

The pastor was upset … he had a long line of penitents … I tried to hurry it up and so did he.

Please pray for Father D.

speaking a simple command, you empowered the crippled to rise up and walk.
You sent forth your life-giving power to all those in need, including those you raised from
the dead. I ask you to send forth your healing power into Father D’s body and give him the strength to fight his illness. I ask this through my Lord, Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen
