I’ve never watched the show but here’s a cool graphic showing all the deaths on the show, clan/kingdom, manner of death (apparently no one dies of sickness or accident) and season/episode. Oh, and it includes animal deaths as well as humans.

Another thing, as many visits to brothels as are made throughout the series you’d figure at least some of the characters would start to display the later stages of STIs. Hang on there, are you saying there is no nudity with valid artistic merit? That view is quite wrong; there is a large chasm between porn and tasteful nudity. Just look at some of the art in the Vatican… start with Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel.

That being said, it’s clear that GoT is nothing but porn, and trashy vioent porn at that. Even Planned Parenthood does some nice redeeming things, it doesn’t mean they should be patronized.

Several did. In fact the Council of Trent ordered it too. And The Last Judgment is restored without some of those embellishments and with some left in place.

Nevertheless, nudity still has a valid place in art, even sacred art, that is not porn.

What are the church’s thoughts on online piracy. ? Downloading software, ebooks, movies without paying for them?

Is it stealing ? Is it a mortal sin? Whenever we take something we do not have a right to take without paying for the item that is stealing. It does not matter if the object in question is a computer program, or a computer file.

If you download software that you have no right to and you do not pay for it that would be stealing.

The best way, I think to tell if what you are doing is stealing is simply to look at the law. Sometimes you can legally download programs for free, or software for free. Sometimes you can view things on youtube for free.

I would suggest in this case if what you are downloading is illegal, you are stealing. If what you are downloading is legal, you are not stealing.

I grant the law cannot tell us what is moral or immoral, but sometimes it can help. In this case I think the law would help us distinguish between what is considered stealing and what is not.

I can think of no valid place for nudity with the possible exception of sacred art in certain contexts. Game of Thrones has crossed so many lines, it’s not worth watching.

I’m not sure how you’re determining the value of the stolen episode. I’m not sure how you’re attaching more or less moral significance to an act of theft. Clearly seems in the realm of conversation with a confessor.

And as I stated, it’s the bizarre choice to actually flaunt an immoral action while chastising a show and its viewers for immoral actions that stands out.

Obviously there is more gravity to stealing bigger things. But its still a commandment. Thou shalt not steal.

Personally I don’t buy the whole art excuse. If they wanted to tell us that there was lots of sex, it doesn’t mean we have to see it. There have been plenty of movies where you know people are having or have had sex, without them showing it graphically.

We know people have sex all the time, but we don’t stand their in the room and watch it. They could easily have not shown these scenes. It’s personal, it’s not for people to gawp at and when they do, that is what turns it in to an immoral sin, because you do it for completely selfish reasons.

Nudity in the name of art is in my view just an excuse for perverted minds to get to draw, take pictures of, make scenes with or gawp at nude bodies and sexual scenes. I’m totally against this.

Seems the original point of this thread is lost, but wanted to say that I agree GOT is pornographic. I don’t doubt the producers intended to provoke lust. I watched the first few seasons, but I couldn’t stomach anymore, I felt it put my faith in jeapordy. I agree that there are easy ways to have sex part of a story wihtout explicitly showing it.

That being said, the Sistine Chapel is another matter entirely, and I like the quote about JPII. I don’t experience arousal when viewing that art, there’s a deeper meaning behind it, love. Thanks for the link Elizium.

If someone finds Michelangelo’s David offensive because David is nude, there are bigger problems at play.
