I lived in florida for 16 years and listened to an incredibly good Catholic radio station there. Here I listen to an NLT station. It seems to constitute a religion in itself but the faith involved is so disorganized and seems lazy to me, For instance, they are always laughing and particularly they always laugh at the end of the song “Just Say Jesus” and I don’t know why I wasn’t up to participating with high church but the NLT “church” is too far the opposite.
Because of my illness, I don’t shower too often and look awful and smoke a lot and take a zillion medications. I can’t see even going to the broadly defined “Faith Church” down the road. I live off “Church Lane” and there is a UCC Curch at one end and an Episcopal Church at the other but I feel so old about trying to go to church, I’ve tried to attend so many times and never feel at home. Various people have told me to ask a Priest into my home to baptise me and so forth; my mother and father are not only atheists but think all Christians are completely insane and it seems enough to me, with God, to fight against them in our little English-American world. My mother may be half-Jewish, unascertainable.
I’m listening to my NLT station as I write, I could still listen to Spirit FM but the sound of it no longer reaches me, I’ve been away from the climate too long.
I pray for a way to reach the beauty and glory I saw when attending Catholic Church (a few times) in Florida, maybe for someone to come into my life who could lead me there.
