Legally the women are single mothers and as single mothers qualify for state or federal aid.
Well of course they do and if irrc there were incidents of this kind of fraud reported in the article. This added to eeww factor with my family that weekend not only were they polygamists they were welfare cheats at the same time. People who said the end justified the means. They struck me as free love hippie types justified by bizarre religious doctrine.

IF that poligamy stuff is true.
Then mormons are better then jw’s. Jw’s don’t get ANYTHING from there church but useless books. And because they always teach that the end of the world is coming tomorrow…so why get married.
You guys are saying that the mormon church was the opposite, they said to GET married…SEVERAL TIMES LOL.

Anyway those ideas on marriage are different.
The Catholic church has different ideas on marriage, with natural family planing and stuff.Which from what I hear is not all that bad
because you only obstain from sex for a small amont of time…like a few days a month.
Basicly everyone has rules on sex.
I hear muslims practice poligamy…not sure.

I have heard of worst things then poligamy, that churches were involved in.

AWWW MAN!!! mormons and jw’s do have this in common though…
Ok the mormon missionaries pay for there own ministry!!!
they save like 10,000 dollars so they can go preaching for two years.
JW’s pay for all there own stuff two, but its for way more then two years LOL.
And the best honor you get from the jw church is to be able two work for free LOL.

Ok so let me get this straight…poligamy…working for free, then getting tossed out…strapping bombs on yourself
and blowing yourself to kingdom come…tithing or giving God a piece of everything you make, ummm didn’t the mafia do that to buisness owners??? LOL…ummm not having sex ever your whole life…etc…etc…

Is there anything a Church can’t tell people to do?!?!? 😃
Nothing but a church can do all that stuff LOL.

i don’t deny any FACTS. and your assertion applies to all. that particular petrine quote i believe applies specifically to mormonism, especially the early leaders like joseph smith and brigham young.
You welcome to that view, but the accusation does not fit.

how so? JS seduced young women in secret and lied about it. he invented “scripture” to justify it and other “scripture” to deny it. you can choose to believe that it’s okay and God commanded him to commit adultery and lie about it but the truth is evident.

That is your view on events of the past. Your view and facts are not the same. JS was commanded to take additional wives just like Abraham Jacob and likely many others. It is your opinion not fact that the actions where not commanded by God. Again your opinion that he invented scripture.

When I have to make a choice between the guidance of the Holy Spirit and the opinions of people on discussion boards I take the former 100% of the time.

Yesssssssssssss! Poppies will make you sleeeeeeeeeeeeeeep.
Commanded by God???
Commanded by Satan.
I cannot believe that you would be so naive. I have a wonderful, sure-fire business deal that I will let only you in on. Interested?

where did God COMMAND Abraham or Jacob to take additional wives? i’d like to see those “facts”. since Jesus spoke to us in canonized scripture on the nature of marriage, we know God wants one man and woman to comprise a marriage. we know this was the intent form the beginning. why would he contradict that for JS? for that matter the sola scriptura LDS who believe all binding doctrine is in the standard works sure seem to have a problem since JS had a section in the original D&C that remained canonized scripture for many years after his death stating very clearly that polygamy was wrong and that LDS didn’t practice it. that’s not opinion that’s verifiable fact. now it is my opinion that a prophet of the lord would never be commanded to violate scriptures that he was commanded to write…especially if such acts violated the principles that Christ taught.if you think the spirit guides you to follow blasphemous womanizing con men then i think you have a problem. but at least you’re here where hopefully that can be rectified. every time you come here you are responding to the call of the holy spirit. i have faith that this will end well for you.

We know that Abraham and others had more than one wife. The Bible never condemns the behavior. This alone does not tell us a whole lot, but it does leave open the possibility. The D&C does tell us quite plainly that at times God has commanded men to have more than one wife. The practice was not general, but selective often.

As far as womenising con men go I attempt to respect the forum request to be respectful of the CC and will leave the popes out of the discussion.

The Dutch slave traders made the same argument to justify slavery.

But the D&C is false and has been proven false.

Men have tried every line in the book to get away with cheating.

And now your telling me that there is a religion that lets guys have plenty of women…who know about eachother…and yet don’t beat, yell at, cut, or even kill the man…they actualy marry him!
lets not be player haters 😃
Don’t forget Joseph Smith’s “marriages” to women who were already married. Yes…celestial wife swapping. Doesn’t get any better than that.

Sometime, the first husband wasn’t so in love with this idea, so Joe would just send them out on missions to the UK. Problem solved.

But you must understand, ol’ Joe never had sex with any of these women, they were just “sealed”, so that Joe can have them in the after-life.

And the best line ever came from Joe: An angel with a flaming sword says you are to be my plural wife. If you agree to this, you are guaranteed celestial glory.

Beat that!!

I’ve pointed this out before and never got a response. On another LDS discussion board I did have someone imply that slavery was also a commandment. No one refuted it:eek:

so you argue from silence? the Bible illustrates the harmful effects of those polygamous relationships. i would say that does more to condemn than your perceived silence does to show it was “commanded”. the D&C doesn’t really say “at times” it is commanded. section 132 says the lord says it’s great. the OD is a man saying he won’t do it and he will use his influence to persuade others not to do it and then another man says that as the forst man holds the keys no one can do it without his involvement thus effectively ending the practice. BY and John Taylor both taught it was God’s preferred marriage. LDs teaching has been that it is the rule in the celestial kingdom, that all the exalted men will be given the worthy women who aren’t sealed to a worthy man. don’t leave the popes at. that’s a copout. it is important that we recognize that there were bad popes who did evil things. the difference was they never changed the doctrine of the church and they never claimed to speak for God commanding those evil things. i think that’s significant and a valid a topic of discussion.

Well, that “sex” thing had me a little worried. But why did Joseph have to send their husbands off on “missions?” Was he just going to “take care” of them while they were gone. Hope you can clear that up for me.😉
He did not have snacks with those women. And if you say he did, it is because you hate people who like to eat snacks.

The doctrines of the Catholic church where changed as I and many others have stated many times. Arguing that the stories in the Bible show us that plural wives is always wrong is weak. I’ve lost count of the stories where people have problems even when making good choices. Is following Christ? wrong it got a lot of people killed. Was Moses telling pharaoh to let the Israelites go wrong? it caused them a whole lot of trouble. Following God’s commandments is now assurance that we will live trouble free. If the practice was so bad all the time you’d think that somewhere in the Bible someone would have made a big deal out of it given the significant people who did practice it.

Then why do you mormons continue to preach blasphemy and heresy and run after false prophets? You think that Joseph Smith will save you? He has probably been in Hell since the day he was shot.
