I’m a left-handed convert; I make the Sign of the Cross with my right hand, but usually receive the Host in my left hand. My kids are all right-handed, and usually cross themselves with their right hands (except when they absent-mindedly use their left hands). My dad was a left-handed cradle Catholic who was forced to write right-handed by the nuns in grade school (and has always had slightly messy handwriting as a consequence).

I use my right b/c that’s what the nuns taught. Luckily I didn’t get my hand tied behind my back like my grandmother did! Some of the most beautiful handwriting comes from lefties. I have gotten many compliments on my handwriting, so has my mother, grandmother, and my son Michael! Here’s to lefties!
