"For many" or "for all"

In words of consecration in novus ordo missae in english is “for all” in polish “za wielu (for many)” and in latin “pro multis”.

I’m cursious how it looks like in eastern lithurgies…

the vatican through the efforts of cardinal arinze (if i’m not mistaken) has corrected the translations for the novus ordo english to “for many” instead of the “for all” but it will take time to adopt the changes, In my country, its “para sa lahat” also “for all”. i cant wait for the new change.

i’ve searched the eastern rites and i believe its all “for many”
i’m glad in your country you have the correct translation.

I found a link to the Divine Liturgy. This is what is said:

Drink of this, all of you, this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for you and for many, for the remission of sins.

I am not sure why it says “many” and not “all.” I will ask some people that know more Greek and Slavonic than I do, which may be the answer.

In all these litugies, the words of consecration have “for many,” with one qualification.

IIRC, the anaphora of Addai and Mari had no words of consecration, so Rome inserted the Roman formula into the Chaldean Catholic liturgy. Naturally I’ll stand corrected by our Chaldean/Syriac experts if I got any details wrong.
