What are your favorite characteristics/memories of your mother?
Of course, this includes all women who bless your life in the role of a mother figure.
And, God bless them, those who are no longer with us.
I’d like to see TONS of answers for Mother’s Day!!

I’ll begin.

My mother could play a mean “Polonaise”

She was compassionate with all living things. She would escort a spider outdoors rather than squish it. And help anyone in need at any and all times.

My mother was a quiet, gentle woman, who roared early one morning when a hunter cut through her yard, past her children, with a shotgun.
And was filled with child-like glee when, early another morning, she woke up to a dozen cows in her yard, that had escaped from their farm down the road…:D:D (THAT was funny!)
She was a vegetarian, her favorite animal was the cow!!

She loved daisies.

I am truly blessed that my last conversation with her was during a lucid moment of her illness. She even cracked a subtle joke. Actually, I’d like to share that down the road of this thread, if you will indulge me.

My mother was filled with love for everyone, even those who discouraged her dreams.
My mother did not lose her battle to Alzheimer’s.
She won the battle; for she is now free of it and is helping to tend the animals in heaven.

Love you, ma. ❤️

Awwwwww, what a great remembrance of your mom!

:yup::clapping::love:

My mom has been gone 46 years now, I’ll have to think about what to say and then come back later.

My mom is still alive and I am very fortunate to have her.

When my first cat was so sick, we were living with her. She helped me give him pills and helped me to clean up after him.

She helps me financially and gives me emotional support.

She loves my current cat and plays with him when she comes over to my place.

She is a very hands on grandmother to my niece and nephew.

She has done a lot with family history on both her side of the family and my dad’s and shares her information freely.

Lovely!! Thank you for sharing!!
(My mom loved cats; instead of flowers, donations were given to a kitty kat shelter!!!)

One of the things I loved about my mom was that she was able to discern when she needed to crack down on us and when she needed to show loving compassion.
I remember that when I received the grade sheet in the mail from my first semester of my first year at college, I saw that I was on academic probation. It was my own fault - all the sudden freedom of choice went to my head and I made a lot of bad choices.
But I was absolutely devastated. I had never failed before. I thought this meant I wouldn’t be able to make it as an adult in the real world.
Instead of coming down on me about working harder and focusing more, she came into my room, wiped the tears off my cheeks and consoled me.
Later came the lecture. 😃

When my sisters and I were young, Mom came home from a neighbor’s house rather upset. The neighbor had described how she made life hell for her husband and daughter because they forgot to give her anything for Mother’s day. Mom told us that she wouldn’t complain if we forgot Mother’s day.

Of course, that year we did forget. She laughed about it and it was one of her regular Mother’s Day stories. 😃

She was extremely generous and often (unintentionally!) funny.

Thank you for sharing. She knew what to do and in the order needed! 👍
You are fortunate…
God bless!

Oh, you!
Thank you for telling us!
(and unintentional can be the best of the funnies!!!)

This is a great thread cheezey!

My elderly mother lives with us and has done for the past 5yrs, my husband and I are her care givers. She had a massive stroke 10 yrs ago and is lucky to be alive.Sadly it got to the stage where she could not live alone. Being a care giver is a wonderful gift but also very stressful and difficult.

Mum ( along with our father ) raised 5 of us children. One of which is my sister Mary who is severely disabled mentally and physically.
Mum had a tough life in that respect and did a great job of raising all of us.

We had many happy times in our childhood. Our Mum was an amazing cook and we really looked forward to our Sunday roast dinner each week. There was always a large meal to look forward to .
Mum was there for me in a very supportive way after my first baby son died.It was a traumatic time and she visited every day until I was able to leave the house.

I have learned so much from my mother and have not always appreciated things from her point of view…I am understanding more as time goes by.

I thank God for my mother…for the good and the difficult times for all the wonder of my mother.

Oh, dear one. Thank you so much for sharing.
Mums are the ones who can best get us through such things.
My mother was there for me for a similar situation. Even in her state, she knew how to console me.
My mother made awesome roasts. And she was a vegetarian!!!
