Prophets

On the list wwolverine has provided, there is Balaam, who by all accounts is a non-Jew prophet. He is even granted to seeing the Messiah, Christ the King.
He is nevertheless condemned by scripture (Jude, Peter, Revelations): he uses his prophethood for personal gain, and using ‘insider information’, is instrumental in the seduction the people of God, getting them to commit adultery (worship of idols/false gods).
An example of a prophet who is not true to his calling.
St. Paul tells us to discern spirits but in the end the one who is tell whether one is his prophet or not is God himself (Cf. Jer. 26),
