After requesting prayers for the repose of my mother’s soul, I must now ask again - prayers for my father, John. While my parents were not together since I was an infant, I am the position of managing his care now that he’s in his 90’s and ill.

He was hospitalized last night - and at age 95 may require surgery, which could either put him on ventilator (which I’m against permanently) or let him die on table. I’m afraid of the obvious decisions that. I’ve just gone through the DNR nightmare during Mom’s hospitalizations. I am pro-life and might be faced with these questions again today. I believe God is the Author, Giver and Taker of Life - not man. But I am not good at these permission decisions to the medical profession. If he ends up on ventilator, who takes him off? If he’s not placed on it in emergency - am I not helping him live? Please pray that God makes the decision for my father, so that I’m not left with conscience problems later. I am extremely sensitive and still suffering over decisionmaking about my deceased Mom.

May God Bless You All for your prayers and support.

Hi Conservative,
I’m an RN who has also had to make decisions like this for members of my family. It is very difficult to do. Rest assured
that at the age of 95, your Heavenly Father is the one making all the decisions.

Father, we thank you for the long life
of your humble servant.
We humbly ask that your servant
Conservative not have to make the
decisions for his father that he has
already had to make for his mother.
Send your angel from heaven to
guide him, comfort him, and grant
him peace. We ask this all in the
name of Christ our Lord.
AMEN

Dear Lord, I ask that you give Conservative the strength and wisdom to do your will, and that You hold his father in Your loving hands. In Jesus name we pray.

I had to do the same for my 88 year old mother with dementia. I told them to make her comfortable and let her go. She wound up passing away in her sleep. My mother suffered much anguish over the last 10 years of her life due to the dementia. The most merciful thing to do was let her go without any heroic intervention. I can live with that.

Praying for you and your father.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

God Bless
