I have been having a lot of non-specific feelings of doubt for the past week or so. I go through this every so often, so but I just hope this isn’t the sign of one of my deeper funks, which in a some cases have lasted months. I’ve gone through a lot of complex philosophical debates about God’s existence, but even after I feel I’ve resolved my doubts to the furthest extent I can, a simple thought like, “How do I even know that God exists since I’ve never seen any concrete firsthand proof he does?” will send me into a cycle of doubt. I am, quite frankly, not what you would call a really “spiritual” person, I’m more I guess “religious”. I go to Mass out of a sense of obligation because of my beliefs, but I’m usually pretty bored. Likewise, I pray, but because of a belief in an idea. I know this isn’t the way I should be, but its hard to change. But those ideas form the basis of my whole life, and when I feel like they are in question its hard for me to feel good about anything. So please pray for my faith.

Dear Jesus,

You came that we might know the Truth and the Truth would set us free. I believe that Truth is more than just an intellectual or philosophical idea but a relationship. Lord, sometimes it is hard to wrap our heads around the fact that the King of the Universe wants an intimate relationship with us, misses us, and longs to have heart to heart talks with us. That you want to tell us what you’re doing and invite us to join in. God, I pray that you would reveal yourself to Kevin12 in a way that only you can do. That it would be supernatural and surprising, beyond anything that he could dismiss away. Help him to see that your yoke is light and your heart is warm. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

:gopray:

Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.
Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.
Amen.

Glory Be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning is now ever shall be world without end
Amen.

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thy intercession, was left unaided.
Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother. To thee do I come, before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy, hear and answer me. Amen

:signofcross:

Saint Michael, the archangel, defend us in battle, be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil, may God rebuke him, we humbly pray. And do you, O’ Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God thrust into Hell Satan and all the other evil spirits who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls.

Amen.

Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.

:signofcross:

May your heart always be
the temple of the Holy Spirit.
May Jesus always be the
helmsman of your little
spiritual ship.
May Mary be the star
which shines on your path,
and may she show you
the safe way
to reach the Heavenly Father.
Amen

:highprayer:

Gracious and merciful Father, please come to their assistance.

Our Father, who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on Earth as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,

I have been where u are and indeed find the question arising from time to time, but be steadfast in your faith for blessed are those who believe and have not seen.

When i found myself in the same sorta situation you are in, i asked God with all my heart to help me know and love Him more, He helped me greatly.

Saint Faustina, a Saint who seen and talked to Jesus said that if the angels were capable of envy they would envy two things, one of which is our suffering.

“If the angels were capable of envy, they would envy us for two things: one is the receiving of Holy Communion, and the other is suffering.”

Suffering tests our faith and breaks us so God can build us anew so we can become stronger in love of God.

Keep fighting the good fight friend.

God bless

What you just described sounds EXACTLY like me. I know what you’re going through. I guess to start pray that God will give you some unmistakeable sign that He is real. If you’re faith becomes very diminished, keep praying and think to yourself:“What would I rather want to be true? That our world full of intelligent creatures was created through a cosmic coincidence? Or that a loving God put us here for a purpose?”
