Heavenly Father , we thank You for Your Love and Mercy to John , for hearing the prayers of all who pray for John and his dog , Jimmy, and for helping him to find shelter from our terrible cold weather here in the UK and we pray that You may continue to do so . We thank you also, O Lord , that John has now found work , and that Jimmy is safe with John’s sister .

We pray also that You will bless dear Clare , who continues to show the love and compassion of her true Christian heart for her neighbour . O Lord , grant that by Your Mercy and Love , You will enable her to maintain her encouragement and help to John. Amen

Lord Jesus Christ , we pray that You will mercifuly help all those who are homeless and poor . Amen .

Hello

A few months ago I made friends with a homeless man named John. He became homeless after he suffered a nervous breakdown due to the death of his infant daughter and the breakdown of his relationship with her mother.

John has been homeless for 18 months and has applied for emergency housing. He exchanges odd jobs for accommodation and sells the Big Issue. He has an old greyhound (Jimmy) and looks after him by doing odd jobs at the veterinary clinic. Still he struggles and when he has to sleep on the streets he is at constant risk of violence from drug addicts.

I struck up the friendship and help him as much as I can each week. In the time that I’ve known him he has never asked me for anything. He’s only told me that he’s grateful that I stop and talk with him because he’s lonely and people passing look at him like he’s “junk”.

It’s getting very cold now. I’ve just seen him and he was shaking.

Please dear friends may I ask you to remember John in your prayers. Please pray that he finds a way out. He tries to work hard and achieve what he can. Please pray that God protects him from violence and that people open their hearts to him and treat him with kindness and dignity.

i dont know whether your friend is off the streets yet but ill certainly pray…theres practical things you can do to help him…theres dhss…if he isnt working then hes entitled to benefits like income support, theres council houses…hostels;…homeless shelters…even priests and nuns will sometimes give shelter to those in his situation and help them get back on their feet…
