For My Friend's Relationship with Her Father

My friend has a really strained relationship with her father. Basically, she came to be as a result of an accidental pregnancy. Her mother loves and adores her but her father has never been constant in her life. He frequently neglected her as a child. They don’t have a great relationship now even though she’s an adult. In fact, she and her father haven’t spoken in several months. She feels a lot of bitterness towards him. Her mother basically spoiled her to try and make up for her dad’s absence and this led to her half-siblings resenting her.

Loving Mother of Jesus, and our Mother, pray to Jesus for our family, for all the families of the world, to guard the cradle of the newborn, the schools of the young and their vocations.

Blessed Saint Joseph,

holy guardian of Jesus and Mary, assist us by your prayers in all necessities of life. Ask of Jesus that special grace which he granted to you, to watch over our home at the pillow of the sick and the dying, so that with Mary and with you, Heaven may find our family unbroken in the sacred Heart of Jesus.

Prayer to Blessed Pope Benedict XI

Dear Benedict the XI, you were a humble Dominican who rose quickly to become the leader of your order, then a cardinal, then a bishop. As a prelate, you one of the only ones to defend Pope Boniface when he was seized, beaten and forced from the palace. When you were elected to the See of St. Peter, you made sure that justice was served for your predecessor and shepherded your flock with fairness and gentleness. Though you only served eight months as pope, your tenure was marked with holiness. Pray for all who have posted here today, that we may be charitable and patient with all those who oppose us, submit to the will of God, and defend our faith until the bitter end. Bl. Pope Benedict XI, pray for us!

We have a similar dynamic in our family with my father and my sister. It is very tough. Praying for your intentions.
 
Praying for your friend and her father. My own father and I had a very strained relationship. A few months before his death, the Holy Spirit was really nagging me to find him and reconcile. I knew there would never be an in person reconciliation. I couldn’t have handled that due to the abuse I’d suffered at his hands as a child.

But I felt the need to find him and talk to him over the phone after my siter gave me his phone number. I made the call and we had a good talk. I didn’t realize how much I needed the closure. I’d alway said I’d tap dance on his grave and feel no remorse when he died. (This was due to the abise which I felt had ruined my life.) I’d forgiven him many years ago. But the phone call helped me move forward and I’d like to think it helped him too.

A few months later, the father I’d grown to love and to have a father-daughter relationship with once more, passed away. And no, I did not tap dance on his grave. I truly mourned him and wish we could’ve had more time together.

Your friend and her father need to reconcile, if it’s God’s Will. Tell your friend not to wait until it’s too late. Her father may want the relationshop but not know how to express. it. Or if he was a total cad as my father was, God may have entered his life and changed him for the better as He did my father.

Dear Jesus, please help this father and child to reconcile. Please give the father the grace to truly love his child and to show that love. Please help the daughter to have patience with her father.
