Praying, It is also hard for the carer, they go through a feeling of guilt wondering if it is their fault, have they not done enough for the patient, and that is the reason they have ended in hospital, praying for your Uncle to

I heard from my dad today that my uncle had my grandmother admitted to the hospital yesterday. It’s a long story why we didn’t hear about it yesterday, family politics and all that.

She is having complications with pressure sores, and I’m sure other issues they will discover. She is in extremely poor health and really should be in a nursing home, but my uncle continues to take care of her in the home.

Please pray for both of them - that she is comfortable and not in pain, and that my uncle can make the right decisions regarding her care, and finally realize he can’t do it alone any more.

We are going to see her shortly - it’s not going to be a good visit, on many levels. 😦

Lord I pray for their grandma to get better health and to be put in the proper care for her sake and the sake of her uncle. Bless this family with love.

amen

Well - I’ve calmed down since yesterday so I can be a bit more charitable in my post. 🙂

But I’m still furious.

He’s taking her back home. Yep - after all this, all the talking to him and getting him to realize that he is in over his head now, he is taking her back home. “She won’t thrive in a nursing home” - was his comment. So he is going to supposedly set up home care to come and visit her to help with wound care and pain management. He claims he can handle the rest.

Well - he can’t. And time will tell how long it takes before he no longer lets the care workers in because “they don’t know what they are doing” or “she’s having a bad day”. At this point, we are all so frustrated and sad we don’t know what else to do. He will NOT listen to reason, and short of legal action, we can not get him to put her in nursing care. None of us want to go there.

Sigh. It’s just crummy that after all this he’s going back on what I know he rationally knows is right. He’s just getting those massive guilt feelings that he would be “dumping” her if he put her in a home. And nothing we say or convince him of will change that.

Thank you all, again, for your prayers. They are so truly appreciated, and still needed. Hopefully he will come to his senses at some point.

Liza, I’m so sorry to hear this. If worst comes to worst, you can start by calling Adult Protective Services, but I pray that it won’t come to that.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now, and at the hour of our death. Amen

I really hope it won’t come to that either - we will keep an eye on everything and see how is “plan” works out and then go from there I guess. I’m still so angry with him I’ve not called to see if she’s home now. Not really sure what I would say to him just yet. Maybe I’ll call the hospital and see if she’s been discharged - hmmm.

Thank you for your prayers Carrie. 🙂

Dear Liza…a difficult situation for you and will be keeping your grandmother in prayer along with all who love and care for her and that the very best decisions will be made and brought into effect for her and all…Our Lady of Mercy pray for them. Jesus we trust you.

This is such a hard situation, for your family, lizanne. I’m sorry you are all going through this. I have a friend whose mother in law is in an assisted living facility, and has alzheimer’s. They went back and forth–all 6 kids in the family at one time–taking care of her, until one day she fell, and they decided to put her into this facility. It has been very hard, and only my friend and her husband visit her regularly. It is tremendouly hard:( , and you have such a caring heart! I will keep you in my prayers.
