For my marriage convalidation

My husband and I were married 7 years ago in a civil ceremony. We are having our marriage convalidated as soon as we can get the paperwork done and the priest scheduled. Probably will be the first week of February. If we don’t do it then, we will have to wait until after Easter. I would much rather it happen in February. My good friend and witness will be moving out of state in mid-Feb, plus I want to return to the sacraments as soon as possible.

We have come up against a couple of snags - first, his baptismal certificate has an error (wrong year of birth). His mother, who is not very good at handling these sorts of things, will need to try to get the certificate corrected, re-issued, and then send it to us from Mexico City. Also, dh can’t get a hold of the person who he’d like to fill out paperwork (we each need someone who’s known us for at least 10 yrs to say that we’ve never been married previously, to their knowledge). Dh can’t reach the friend he’s chosen (said friend is a very nice guy with a very bad alcohol problem). I’ve told dh he should contact someone else, ASAP. There are just a few people who’ve known dh for the past 10 yrs (he immigrated to the U.S. 11 yrs ago).

We’re not planning a mass or any kind of family celebration - none of my extended family is Catholic, and all of his Catholic relatives live in Mexico. It will be just the priest, us and our witnesses. I just want our marriage to be valid in the Church.

Please pray that the snags get worked out so we can go forward with the convalidation in early February.

I just got my marriage validated last year congrats good luck it is a lot of work
 
Dear Lord, you know the needs of this couple, and I ask that You work a miracle in this situation, so that they can begin receiving Your sacrements. Thank You, Lord, for drawing their hearts to You. In Jesus name we pray.

I, too, know how much work this is, and I agree it is worth it.
