For My Mother

Dear All

I found out today that my elderly mother is severally ill. She has had heart surgery and is suffering from neurological difficulties as well.

Before you feel sympathy, you should know that this is not a loving daughter asking for prayers for a loving mother. My mother destroyed our family through years of sustained cruelty and abuse. She is in fact my worst enemy.

To be a true Christian I have to pray for her with a sincere and forgiving heart. Not only am I asking you to pray for her so that God will receive her, I am asking you to pray for me so that I have the grace to do the right thing and pray for her.

My mother is the reason my son is in foster care.
She emotionally abuses me any chance she gets.
And to be like Christ I try to be pleasant to her.
I will pray for your mother and you.**
 
Dear Clare , it makes us sad to hear this terrible revelation… Whilst we do feel sympathy , it is for you and your family .Since you have joined us , we have come to know you as a loving child of Christ , so please know that we uphold you in our prayers ,as we do your mother ,asking God to give you the grace to pray for her .

I was able to pray for my mother properly today. I’m sure that is due to your support.

I am so sorry to read of your suffering and that of your mother.How lucky your mother is that despite her cruelty towards you,you are a loving caring person to all you meet.You are humble and kind and forgiving.Your mother has a remarkable wonderful daughter in you.Thankyou

Lord please grant Clare strength and continued compassion and forgiveness as she prays for her mother who is seriously ill.You know Lord how Clare has suffered and she is forgiving of her mother and we join her in prayers for her mothers health.Lord please continue to bless Clare and guide her throughout her life.Lord we ask for Your mercy for her mother and ask she may be healed and not suffer.Amen

Thank you for your kind words and your generous prayers.

If I didn’t pray for her, I wouldn’t truly be a Christian. When things are difficult to bear I think of Jesus carrying his cross and his suffering for all of our sakes. If he could endure that then I can find it my heart to put aside the past and do what God asks me.

And I wish I truly were humble - I think I’ll be on the path to find humility for a long time.

Jesus please go to all those hurt and crushed moments in Clare’s life, even those which she does not specificly remember. Hold her gently in her arms and give her the love that was denied her by one should should love her most. Speak to her gently and rock her in Your arms so that she feels safe and loved.

Perhaps her mom was crippled in some way by her own traumas and personalty damage, but that doesn’t ease the hurt Clare has felt, so as You heal Clare, please give whatever healing is possible to her mother’s spirit.
