I feel a bit bad asking for this, when so many people are requesting prayers for themselves or their loved ones that are dealing with horrible situations or health problems, but Mum’s important to me and I’m worried.
I took the afternoon off to take her to a clinic that treats varicose veins (by injection), removes moles, things like that. Mum’s legs look they’ve been battered on a daily basis with a baseball bat - you don’t even really see varicose veins anymore, just big patches of black. She has edema as well, so some of those veins are rather ulcerated.
(yes, she’s been to a regular doctor about this - he referred her to this clinic) So she was going to get her legs ‘done’ today, as well as having a particularly terrifying-looking mole removed - I never noticed this thing until a couple of months ago, when she had evidently tried removing it herself with wart remover, then really inflamed it by applying tea tree oil. I can’t begin to describe how creepy-looking this mole is.
Anyway … the doctor at the clinic wants her to have the mole tested first to ensure it’s not cancer. And she reminded me, as I was hyperventilating at the use of the ‘c-word’, that the last time (about 10 years ago) that she had her legs ‘done’, she ended up with a blood clot in her legs.
Blood clots aren’t good. (she survived the experience, obviously!) She had to make a separate appointment (for tomorrow) to get her legs actually ‘done’ - or rather, ONE leg, since he’ll only do one at a time.
On a slightly cheerier note, though, we nipped to her regular doctor for a referral to the skin specialist (for the mole), and her GP says that there’s a pretty good chance it’s NOT cancerous, in a couple of days he’ll have whatever equipment it takes to do a ‘punch biopsy’ (I don’t know what that is, and I don’t WANT to, thanks), the results will only take a day or two to come back, and then - whether The Mole is malignant or not - he can remove it in his office.
So I feel a bit better, but I’m still horribly stressed. Poor Mum has had a rotten life, she’s in constant pain at the best of times, and darn it, she should be able to just get her legs and mole sorted out without it being risky and horrible. And she’s being pretty darned cheerful and upbeat about it all (which makes me feel even worse - it is not Mum’s nature to be upbeat about anything).
I know this is terribly trivial compared to the majority of prayer requests here, but that poor woman has had a rotten life, and I just want her to be comfortable - I would be very grateful if anyone is willing to pray with me for her.
Thank you, and bless you all!
