I have struggled with the passions of the flesh for over ten years now. I just cannot seem to sta out of mortal sin for more than a few days…I want to serve God, but this addiction is killing my life in Christ. Almost every Sunday I watch everyone else at Mass partake of the Body and Blood of our Lord, while I have to make an Act of spiritual Communion. I want to stay in Communion with Him, not divorce myself from my Savior every few days because my flesh is weak! Please pray for me so that I may defeat this with God’s help and be able to be made worthy of redemption.

Dear Child of God, I feel for you. I too have struggled with the same problem. Since my conversion 5 years ago, It seems like the temptations are worse than before. I’m married and have a family too, so the need to stay pure is not only for me and my relationship with God, but also for them. Have you thought about spiritual direction? I also went to group therapy with a Christian counselor and praying in a group for our collective needs and working things out together really helps. You are not ment to go it alone. I had gone to individual therapy for 5 years with a good woman councelor, (not Christian counceling) for emotional troubles I was having because of an physically and emotional abusive childhood I experienced, and not until I was prayed over in a spiritual healing group at Church and then went to Christian group counceling did I realize to what extent my childhood was effecting my adulthood and also actually received the biggest healing. But as I said the temptations are still great. The devil doesn’t want you to have a relationship with God. He is really working hard on you. But, don’t give up. The greatest saints are those not who do everything perfect, but those who in the greatest stuggles, keep turning to HIM!!! You could be a great saint!!! The pain of pulling yourself from the world and turning to God will be your greatest joy in heaven. These words are not just something that sounds good, it is the TRUTH. I know you are in pain, and I will pray for you. But please know that God knows we are not perfect, even Jesus says in scripture that he wasn’t perfect only the Father is perfect. If Jesus says that about Himself, (we know how totally great He is) than what do we have to worry about. Call on the Holy Spirit and the Blessed Mother, beg them to help you, it will get better. In the book of Job, it says that life here (on earth) is temptation. We can’t escape it. Don’t compare yourself to anyone else, just keep trying. God Bless you, Roxanne

I’ll be remembering you in Masses and Communions. Am lucky enough to be able to go daily. God grant that you find solutions to this problem. Your humanity is needing help in some way and I pray God helps you to find it. God grant you peace.
God loves you so much and He knows your problem. God please do help this good person to find out how to deal with this issue.

Bless you, dear soul,

Trishie

Dear friend in Christ,
may God help you to discern whatyou can do to break this habit cycle. May God help you consider that while each time you are plunged in guilt and despair perhaps, you may not be actually cut off from Him, that You still love Him and still want to act as He would wish. May God help you to find ways to deal with the habit cycle that your brain is so programmed now to follow, along with the chemicals involved in your system. If to commit a mortal sin we must knowingly and willingly consent to what we believe to be a mortal sin, you may not be as cut off from God as you fear. Your will does not have complete control due to habit, but as you have the responsibility to try to overcome the cycle, may God help you to overcome it with wisdom regarding your nature and what you actually need to do, how to occupy yourself, and also the grace to seize the moment that there still remains a choice.I pray that God helps you. I remembered you at Mass, along with, personally, all the others from the Forum and elsewhere, and will continue to do so. I find I feel very much at home with the tender remembrance I have of you and each during Mass and Communion. Bless you, and best of grace in finding your way to wholeness…Trishie:)

Praying for you and for all who are fighting this temptation:

Prayer to St Dymphna for Chastity

Most pure virgin, Saint Dymphna, we live at a time when many are intent on satisfying every carnal appetite. Your single-minded dedication to Christ alone is providential and inspiring. Please help us by your power with God to see life in proportion as you did. With your aid we propose to perform all our actions for a pure motive, and promptly to resist all our evil inclinations. Amen.

A PRAYER FOR PURITY

Jesus, Lover of chastity,
Mary, Mother most pure,
and Joseph, chaste guardian of the Virgin,
to you I come at this hour,
begging you to plead with God for me.
I earnestly wish to be pure in thought,
word and deed in imitation of your own holy purity.

Obtain for me, then,
a deep sense of modesty
which will be reflected in my external conduct.
Protect my eyes, the windows of my soul,
from anything that might dim the luster of a heart
that must mirror only Christlike purity.

And when the “Bread of Angels becomes the Bread of me”
in my heart at Holy Communion,
seal it forever against the suggestions of sinful pleasures.

Heart of Jesus, Fount of all purity,
have mercy on us.

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thine intercession was left unaided.
Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, my mother; to thee do I come, before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me.

Amen.

My brothers and sisters, I have just had a MAJOR fall in this struggle. Please pray not only that God give me the Grace to avoid these sins but also the Grace to pray when tempted. I get tempted and I don’t even pray for help. It’s an endless cycle. I fear so much for my soul…what if I die before I conquer this addiction. I don’t want to be damned! I go to Confession and often fall again the SAME DAY! Preumption, lust, speaking against the Spirit by tempting others…Please help!! I want to make God happy. I want to be able to be redeemed.

I am sorry you are having so much trouble. I’m glad you read my reply. what I ment about Jesus saying that he isn’t perfect (good) only God in heaven is perfect (good) is that if we a humble enough to say I’m nothing and imperfect, God is everything and all powerful, he created everything is knows everything about you and has counted all the hair on your head, that knowledge will allow you to surrended all to him. Everything, even your mistakes. Lord Teach me in everything. He CAN heal you. That is the first thing you Must believe. Especally during your falls. Stop counting the days, weeks and years you screw up. Start with right now. Every time. After confession start new each time. Know their could be a next time and pray before their is even a temptation in your face. And don’t give up. The biggest sin is against the Holy Spirit. Believeing that He can’t help you or forgive you is the biggest sin. Judas is a prime example. He commited a horrible sin, giving up our Lord for 30 pieces of silver, but that was completly forgiveable if he would have just believed God would forgive him. But insead, he commited the worst sin. Believe in God’s mercy. And look into why you have this addiction. Get help for it. There are groups that help people with every kind of addiction. I will keep praying for you. God Bless You
