Please pray for me to know God’s will for my relationship. I’m trying to discern whether it’s God’s will for my boyfriend and I to be married or not. I know it’s what we want but I’m trying to spend time in prayer to see if it’s what God wants.

Please pray that God reveals his will to us and if it’s aligned with that, that God leads us to a happy and healthy Catholic marriage and family.

Praying that through much prayer the Holy Spirit will reveal God’s plan for you in your relationship with your boyfriend. God bless you.

Prayer for Discerning Marriage

Lord, I thank you for the blessing of __________ in my life. I ask that You will keep him safe and hold him in Your arms in time of need and in times of rejoicing.

Lord, at this time I ask you to purify my attraction towards __________; Lord Jesus, if it is Your will that we be together as a couple either within the next year or even in the next five years from now, please place a peace in our hearts about this situation. But, Lord, if it is not Your will, please give us peace in not sharing a life together and the grace to continue a God-fearing friendship.

I thank You Lord for this time of growth in ___________'s journey closer towards you and ask that You will continue to purify him for the adventure ahead. Lord, I ask that you will give him consistency in his feelings towards me and that his Love for me will only grow in the way in which You intend it to grow.

Lord, only You know my heart’s desires and I ask that everything I do that involves _________ will only lead him closer to You Jesus. Lord, You know I only want the best for him and that I can’t give him anything, only You can. Amen.

Inspired with this confidence, I fly to thee, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother; to thee do I come; before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me. Amen.

Prayer for the Help of the Holy Spirit

O God, send forth your Holy Spirit into my heart that I may perceive, into my mind that I may remember, and into my soul that I may meditate. Inspire me to speak with piety, holiness, tenderness and mercy. Teach, guide and direct my thoughts and senses from beginning to end. May your grace ever help and correct me, and may I be strengthened now with wisdom from on high, for the sake of your infinite mercy. Amen.

O Blood and Water, which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a fount of Mercy for us, I trust in You.
 
O Jesus, lover of the young, the dearest Friend I have, in all confidence I open my heart to You to beg Your light and assistance in the important task of planning my future. Give me the light of Your grace, that I may decide wisely concerning the person who is to be my partner through life. Dearest Jesus, send me such a one whom in Your divine wisdom You judge best suited to be united with me in marriage. May her/his character reflect some of the traits of Your own Sacred Heart.
