One of my three younger sisters, T., is going into the hospital for surgery tomorrow morning at 9:00 a.m. She will be having a corrective procedure done on her chest: she was born with a caved-in chest cavity, and the surgeon will implant a steel bar in her chest in order to correct the problem.

Please keep her and my family covered; she will be in intensive care for about five or six days, then she will be home for four to six weeks to recover (during that time, she will have to be mindful of things such as her sleeping posture and how she can bend over, so that the bar does not shift). I am hoping and praying that she will come out of surgery perfectly okay, and that it will work to correct her caved-in chest.

Precious Jesus, please be with this sister in Christ as she goes into surgery tomorrow. Have your hand upon the doctors and nurses attending her and bless this surgery. Surround her with your Holy angels and help her heal quickly. Give comfort and strength to all those in her family and help them have the “peace that passes all understanding”. Amen.

We lift up our intentions for T in the hopes that you will bless her and have mercy on her during this time of surgery and recovery. We ask that you send your comforting and consoling Holy Spirit to be with her during this time in a special way. We also pray for the compassion, skill, and competence of all medical staff and doctors who treat and tend to dear sister T. Please also strengthen the family and provide them with a strong faith, courage, and hope in You, that they might ease the recovery and the pain sister endures as part of her recovery process.

Lord, we are very thankful that you have prepared this treatment for sister T to help her situation. Please also bless big sister C and help her to care for her sister during this time.

Heavenly Father, guide the hands of the surgeon and the nurses who will assist this woman in her care and healing. Give her the strength to bear the necessary trials that this surgery brings. May she feel the love her family around her during her difficult recovery. We ask all these prayers through Christ our Lord and the intercession of the saints, especially our Blessed Mother, St.Luke and St.Camillus, patron of doctors and nurses. Amen.
