For my son who is addicted to heroin

He has been struggling with drug addiction since he was 12. Here at our new location he discovered heroin and now is addicted. He has been a drug dealer as his father was when he was young. He has about 5 court charges against him. He just failed probation requirements and has to go back to rehab or maybe worse. I was so ill through most of my life that I wish I could blame myself, maybe it would do some good, but I can’t. I was laid up sound asleep for about 5 years when this started. He always had issues but when I was so ill he attended a very nice boarding school, a naval academy, and we thought that this would help to heal him. He even attended a very good Catholic School for a year after getting kicked out of the naval academy (for drugs). Then the marriage fell apart and my son came North with me, leaving his father in Florida. He resents me for both the divorce and also because both he and his father went to jail overnight with one thing and another. He called the police on me thinking they would take me back to a mental hospital and they took him instead. I dropped the charges. I have always had faith in my son, he is an “atonement child,” a “gift from God.”
Please Lord have mercy on him and heal him. And on me too.
 
My son stays with my parents, where he has a two room suite, which he prefers. He has been lying to all three of us. I never knew that he was high when he was smoking pot in high school. Then it went to other things. I was so confused on so many different psych meds myself that I had lost all sense of his more normal but also HORRENDOUS reality. My ex-husband was an alcoholic and terribly abusive. But an excellent breadwinner and so my son and I both got carried away with money. My son got a settlement for an eye injury of a substantial # of thousands of dollars, and this was where the heroin addiction started. He finally got it after we had come up here to Pennsylvania and a nasty young woman dated him while he had the money in order to get drug money for her own habit, which she drew him into. He tried to choke her when she left him when the money run out, and this was the first criminal charge.

My husband tried to choke me on two occasions early in our marriage. But I don’t think it is inherited. This girl just violated him so badly. My husband also abused our son.

I am SORRY to hear what your family is
going thru, may the Good Lord free your
son from his herion habit and his treatment
of his girlfriend, may he finally realize that
the promises of wealth and the world are
EMPTY promises and look to You, O Lord
for Life and life to it’s full(John 10:10).
