Please pray for my son. I am so hard on him because I react so harshly to the slightest sign of defiance or attitude. That saying that people who act unloving are in the greatest need of love keeps playing over in my head. I get such parental pride, I can tell that I am crushing his spirits.

He was upset about something last night and I was running late on our bedtime routine, so I told him (angrily) that I’d listen to him AFTER his shower. He persisted in his defiance till I took away a privilege and just sent him to bed. This morning, I told him I was sorry for being so unloving and I listened to him about why he was so upset and I got a smile and a hug out of him, but then he turned around and refused to participate in a special activity for school.

Mother Mary, by your grace, please help me to conquer my pride for the sake of my child’s soul and my personal holiness. Help me to imitate you in gentility and tenderness, love and mercy. St. Joseph, please pray for my son and protect him from my harshness. Thank you for helping my DH listen to what was going on btwn us and countering my anger with gentleness toward my son.

As a mom myself, I want to congratulate you on the love you have shown by asking for prayers for your son. That touched me deeply. Thank you for caring so deeply for your child.
