Paul said, regarding the bread and wine, at Jesus’ Last Supper: “For those who eat and drink without discerning the body of Christ eat and drink judgment on themselves.”

How do you interpret the preceding passage?

When I was protestant, this was always a problem passage for me. I am interested in how others view it.

It is kind of quuiat that Protestants say they do not believe in nthe body and blood of Christ, than why does tgheir Bible have it in thewir book?

I was taught to take this scripture serious. If I wasn’t “right” with God, I better not take communion or I better “get right” with God real quick and mean it. I hear its bad for your health, both spiritual and physical. “That is why many of you are weak and ill, and some have died.”

When I was converting this verse and 1 Corinthians 10:16 were the most convincing verses to me with regards to the Real Presence. Even more so than John 6, which I found to be vague.

I agree. As a former protestant, that was the case for me as well. What those passages did for me, was help me discern the meaning of John 6. 👍 John 6 by itself kind of kept me wanting more, as was the case with the apostles, judging on their lukewarm response to Jesus in John 6.
