I went to Mass today only to find that the priest wasn’t in the Confessional. Sadly I had to abstain from the Eucharist to avoid tainting Jesus’ body. For the first time I feel that Confession is such an important event in my life!

I hesitated about whether to confess or not, and if so how to ‘rephrase’ my grave sin - the gravest since my Baptism in April 2015. Let alone my negligence in prayer. But in the end I decided to go to a Confession. This is the only way to fight against the Satan, so that he can no longer exert undue influence on me by concealing his temptations.

Confession. Frequent Confession. I always spot the imperfection in my spiritual life. I do remember Jesus, but triviality is always distracting me. Intellectually I really love and value God. I simply need to rekindle my love for Jesus and put words into real actions.

I guess this’s why Jesus wanted me to wait longer till my Confession - the earliest probably on Thursday, the latest before next Sunday Mass. Wait and prepare well to learn about the virtues of Confession. A better lesson learnt on not to sin again.

Please pray for the success of this spiritual battle.

Don’t worry about how you word your confession. Any priest who’s been around awhile has heard it all. Go to confession when you can, and then don’t deny yourself communion. When I receive communion, I am always amazed that Jesus would want to make Himself available to me this way.

I’ll pray that you find peace in the Lord and come to His table unimpaired.

A suggestion: If a priest is not available in the Confessional, and it is 5 or 10 minutes before Mass is scheduled to start, go into the Sacristy and ask the priest to hear your Confession. Be as brief as possible, so as not to impinge on the priest’s time and make him late for Mass.
Always remember that the Sacrament of Confession is not supposed to be a psychological counseling session.

Good advice from George Stegmeir.

Saying a prayer for you now…

I have been in the same boat as you before. Praying for you.

Eternal Father, I offer you the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your Dearly Beloved Son, Our Lord, Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world.

For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world.

Saint Michael, the archangel, defend us in battle, be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil, may God rebuke him, we humbly pray. And do you, O’ Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God thrust into Hell Satan and all the other evil spirits who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls.

Amen.

†

Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.

Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.

Amen.

Gracious and merciful Father, please come to their assistance.

Give us this day our daily bread,

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
