As someone with scrupulosity I’ve grown to become wary of experienced of dramatic conversion because it makes me more unstable. I just got back from confession and genuinely confessed my lack of consistent prayer the past theee weeks and now I feel like I have to give up all these things that I thought were ok but I may be attached to. I love the consolation of nearness to God but almost immediately after I get tormented by impressions to do things that strip me of everything and it makes me miserable. I am now bitter and miserable and I am tempted with the thought that “thus wouldn’t have happened if you continued on your merry way”. I know that’s a demonic lie and I wanted to ask for prayer that I would get through this.

Among these other things, I started dating a nice Christian girl and now I think I need to break up with her because I’m probably (but not certainly) not called to marriage.
 
I’m praying for you. May God relieve you of your suffering.

Temptations are not sins. Everyone is tempted. Count yourself blessed, that your soul is so precious to God that the tempter wants to rip it away!

What you need right now is deliverance from evil. Focus on that line from the Our Father. Put special emphasis on it.

Praying for your intention. Don’t make any life altering decisions while you are in this state. Decisions like pursuing a different life path should be made when one is thinking clear headed after much discernment and not out of anxiety or depression or some feeling. Especially if it is a negative thought like you might not be good enough. Let the Lord worry about those things. Cast your cares on him. I recommend Fr. Spitzer who says that before you pray you should say ‘Lord I know that you are here and that you love me.’
