“We pray for our country, the land of our birth; we pray for all nations that peace be on earth…”

We hear this line in the hymn to Our Lady of Perpetual Help. As I attended Mass with my parents today, I suddenly was inspired to pray for political scientists as they try to help us understand the politics of today and offer solutions to problems that can be solved within the realm of politics. May they be able to inspire people to help their respective governments by showing that politics is about freedom and that governance is about shared responsibilities and that politics is not just about corruption and haplessness. May they see their expertise not as something that sets them apart but as a gift to be used in creating a better world.

On a more personal note, I pray for my Political Science professor, who inspired me as I was ready to give up hope in various aspects of my life. He is very much involved in social movements that seek to improve the country, a very brave and selfless man. I pray that the Lord keep him and his loved ones safe, and I pray for all his endeavors as well.
