Saint Michael, the archangel, defend us in battle. Be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil, may god rebuke him, we humbly pray. And do you, O prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God, thrust into hell Satan and all the other evil spirits who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls.

Loving God,

Your son Jesus taught us to love and to pray through the beatitudes as a model for how we should live out our Christian lives. Please bless us, grant us wisdom, have mercy on us as we sometimes stray from the desires you have for us, and help us to pray feverishly and with great effect for this intention. Blessed are they who mourn, for they will be comforted. Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the land. Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be satisfied. Bless these children of yours who never have the opportunity to live out their earthly lives, and bless those who grieve and mourn for them. Please send your loving Holy Spirit to soften and change the hardened hearts of so many people who do not understand and appreciate the evil that is abortion. Please guide and lead the political leaders of our country so the rights and dignity of our unborn will be respected and will be preserved by our laws and practices.

We pray in the name of your beloved son, our Lord Jesus, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God for ever and ever.

us with the vision of the world to come, when every
tear will be wiped away, and death will be no more.
Father, how we need that hope, how we are strengthened
by that vision! Keep our hearts focused on heaven, and

Father, we praise you. We have heard the voice of your Son, and therefore we can make our
voices heard. We have done battle with the power of evil, and therefore we can have
compassion on those still within its grip. We have been freed from the kingdom of darkness,
and therefore we can bear witness to your Kingdom of Light. May the witness of all your
people through these 40 Days for Life bear abundant fruit, and may we begin again each
day to storm the gates of hell until You welcome us into the gates of heaven. We pray in the

“Social injustices stood in tension to the high ideals the Founders articulated” (Living the Gospel of Life, 14).
Reflection: The founding fathers of our nation were religious men, many of whom studied in seminaries and Bible schools. They spoke openly of Jesus, even in official government meetings. They did not see religion as an aspect of life that one could freely ignore. For decades now, our courts have been removing religion and morality from public life, and we see the price we have paid in tens of millions of aborted children.
Prayer: Bless our nation, Lord, that it may always acknowledge you publicly as the foundation of our rights and freedom. Amen.
