For Protestants and Lukewarm Catholics

This has been on my heart a lot lately. I live in the Bible belt, and whenever I get into a discussion on religion with Protestants I always end up more sad than angry (though I’m always at least a little angry too). I’m sad that they can’t see, haven’t been given the faith to understand (or have rejected it), and go about their lives believing so many things that are either wrong or have no support in the Bible or from the early Church fathers.

Lukewarm Catholics make me even sadder. I thank God that I was born into a Catholic household every time I think about it. I know the wonderful gift I have been given, and I thank God that He has seen fit to call my husband to convert, and to give me DS and my future children (God-willing) to raise in His Church. So when a nominal Catholic says something that is anti-doctrinal or against the Magisterium, it makes me want to bang my head against a wall. I just don’t understand how some people can’t/don’t/won’t see the tremendous gift given to us.

So, let’s pray for these people, please. If they won’t listen to us, let’s pray they listen to God.

I’m in the same boat with you. I have relatives who ignore blatant errors. Crazy.

I, too, live in the Bible belt. It is hard. 98% of my friends are Protestant and ALL of my in-laws are too. Makes me sad as well…praying for the truth to reveal itself to those in most need! 🙂

That is why I joined CAF: to hear from experiences outside my world. I have heard of the Bible Belt, know very vaguely what it is and to hear from people who live there is entering into another world.

For we who are lukewarm, in error, or struggling, have mercy on us, that we may be more like Jesus. Oh Lord. Thank you for all my blessings and graces you have given me. Have mercy on me for I have not loved you enough. If it be thy will lead all to your Holy Supper. Especially my brother Jack. I understand where you’re coming from. All my husband’s family are Protestant. I love them all dearly, but when it comes to religion, it’s a touchy subject. They believe all this Rapture and mark of the Beast stuff, etc… I just can’t get my head wrapped around it all! (no offense to any Protestants who might be reading this thread.)
My family is Catholic, but none go to church at all. Feel like they can do it on their own. I am the only regular church goer in my family.
It makes me very sad and I pray for them everyday.
