The poll is addressed to Protestants. Catholics may partake in this discussion.
I think Manny meant “can sin, putting oneself in danger of damnation, and need to repent in order to be restored to a saving relationship with Christ.”Manny,
OSAS people also believe one can sin and need to repent.
From my understanding from Non-Catholic Christians who I know, they claim you cannot lose your salvation once you accept Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior. Not even future sins can separate a Christian from the Lord. His eternal salvation is secured.Manny,
OSAS people also believe one can sin and need to repent. They just believe that there is nothing you can do to “lose” your salvation. And yes certain passages in Hebrews give them fits and is usually ignored.
So the poll is not entirely accurate. I voted I do not believe in OSAS, though years ago I did. The SBC does teach this, if not in exact wording, in thought, deed and intent. My parents who are methodist hold to this also, OSAS.
May I ask the purpose of the poll. Are you interested in trying to understand OSAS?
That’s atypical. It’s a KJO site, a fairly small slice of Protestantism. Of course, even the KJV says we have to run the race to get the prize.According to this Protestant Website which claimed to be written by a Born-Again Christian, you cannot lose your salvation.

I don’t know how many spies SBC have and claimed that Catholics are living in sin. Who are they to judge their sinfulness? Can they read a man’s heart? The last time, I check only God can know our hearts. Of course, there are those who are disobedient Catholics.Oh Manny, you took my meaning wrong. I meant the SBC often preaches that Catholics live a sinfilled life knowing they can recieve absolution. I am in no way saying that it’s true as I know better.

This is interesting. You can sin and commit horrible sins, never go back to church, never pray, denounce God and guess what…because you prayed and asked God, well God is bound. Your salvation is secure.
Unless your in the southern United States. For some reason every single nonCatholic that I come across adamantly holds to such a view of OSAS. Many of these groups wouldn’t believe some of my favorite Protestants on this forum were Christian either. That’s atypical. It’s a KJO site, a fairly small slice of Protestantism. I find the question interesting because I deal with people who believe extreme OSAS. Many of these are good people who really are eager to serve God. But I know that they doubt my salvation because I don’t see OSAS as true.Manny,

I beg to differ with that statement. Not all sin leads to hell, but all sins should be repented of.
