For SDA: Is it your Church doctrine that the Catholic Church is the Beast?

I been wondering about SDA official position about the Catholic Church. Do they have an official state that says that Catholic Church is the Beast or the Whore of Babylon? Have the SDA recanted from the statement? What is their view of the Pope?

I just found this quote from the Wikipedia article:
“We fully recognize the heartening fact that a host of true followers of Christ are scattered all through the various churches of Christendom, including the Roman Catholic communion. These God clearly recognizes as His own. Such do not form a part of the “Babylon” portrayed in the Apocalypse.” – Questions on Doctrine, p. 197.

Without the proper context I can’t say if the ‘Such do not form…’ part refers to the individual Catholic believers not being part of the Beast, or if they accept that the Catholic Church as a whole is not the Beast.

I’m a former SDA. Here is a link to their official statement regarding the Catholic Church.

While the official statement is brief and ambiguous, paragraph 5 of the official statement declares that they are convinced of “their prophetic views”. The “prophetic views” of which they are convinced do assert and declare that the Catholic Church is all that you state above in your question…and then some. They believe the office of the Pope, therefore whoever holds that office, is the antichrist.

If you, or anyone else, would like to read those “prophetic views” of which they are “convinced”, just let me know and I will be glad to post links to them from the writings of Ellen Gould White, the prophetess of their church who put those prophetic views into writing.

They believe that the Catholic Church as a whole is the Beast. They also believe that there are innocent Catholics who have been deceived and are doing the best they can without the real “Truth”, and therefore they are “ture followers” of Christ even though they are Catholics.

It’s somewhat funny, although ironic is probably the better term, that I believed and said that about Catholics for years. Now I find I can say that about SDAs…imaginie that:shrug:
