For second time in eight years, a coup in Mali has been led by a U.S.-trained soldier

We train soldiers, they are fighting Boko Haram over there. I see the Pentagon cut off military assistance to Mali:

Pentagon cuts off backing to Mali’s military after coup

Anyway, this is a new era. In times in the past, I guess we could be accused of all kinds of things, School of Americas, Vietnam. There is good with bad.

Be nice to have a link. We probably also help governments keep out terrorists.

Doesn’t compare, Communists killed 200,000,000.

We did NOTHING like that.

Just like Margaret Thatcher said, Nazism and Communism are two sides on the same coin.

Soviet Union collaborated with Nazi Germany to start war in World War II.

Russia helped the opposition in Libya that has some very bad actors like the Janjaweed out of Sudan.
No proof and if we did, see above.

Except there’s tons of proof. It doesn’t help to deny the obvious, Victoria. We funded and approved coups all over the world, and in many instances yes, torture and death squads were used to enforce the new law.

Just a few off the top of my head:

Guatemala
Chile
Iran
Democratic Republic of the Congo
Afghanistan
Haiti
Indonesia
East Timor
Greece
Nicaragua
El Salvador

The CIA even has a term for things like September 11th. It’s called blowback.

I know it can be a blow to one’s world view to accept our country did things like that, but it’s always better to know the truth.

And communists didn’t kill two hundred million. Even the Black Book of Communism doesn’t claim that, and though a good source that number is wildly inaccurate. And as Amartya Sent has pointed out, “India seems to manage to fill its cupboard with more skeletons every eight years than China put there in its years of shame.”

This is mostly old news. Besides, Communism killed 200,000,000 Mao, Stalin, Pol Pot, Castro.

Iran is not a sure deal, that is disputed. Congo is disputed.

Again, it was either one side or another. It’s hard to have an in between.

So you admit there is proof, contrary to your old claim.

To claim the actions of the United States over the past half century suddenly ceased in 2000 is wrong. Honduras, Iraq, etc. Our country remains as committed as ever to its empire.

As world leader, we have to make some decisions. Sure.

I am not going to defend Honduras or Iraq, however, in the case of Iraq, Saddam is accused of genocide against the Kurds. So, if that was a problem, I do believe that was something that needed to be stopped.

Honduras happened under Obama as did Libya, it is their responsibility. Also, ISIS rose to power under Obama.

Even if we cut down the number killed under Communism, let’s say 100 million.

I think it’s higher but so be it. I thought Mao has been cited as having killed 100 million under his reign in China.
