Lord Jesus,

Teach us how to forgive. Reach those people with so much anger and hatred, and teach them how to forgive, encourage their forgiving of person or persons who they resent, We ask now that you do this through our political leadership, our media, through all of their loved ones, through all the saints on earth and in your Kingdom.

Give comfort to those who are suffering injury, suffering the loss of loved ones, suffering the loss of security in daily life. When they are ready, help them to understand and forgive those who did great evil. When we are ready, help all of us to understand and forgive the offenders.

Give wisdom to our political leaders, guide their making of statements and laws towards security of the common good, toward people who find security in you, Lord.

Create Your Kingdom through us, give us the will and the means to make our swords into plowshares.
 
Our Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, Amen.
