For some peace

I have close family that I regularly get together with over the years and invariably the same old trials rise up between some of them, and there is a lot of quickness to anger, pride, and not much humility. This has made for much misery in visits and life, as I’m sure many of you can relate. I try to show love and example. I try to do prayer and penance, but I am as well tested with invisible responses. Which leaves me in my often condition of discouragement among all the other muck and mire life has to offer. All help appreciated.

Lord, help this good soul know that even though he may feel discouraged by his family he never has to feel discouraged by You. You put tough people in our lives to exercise us in virtue and to pray for them. Marco Polo will become a saint - if he isn’t already - praying for the souls of those in his family who hurt him. May this good soul always forgive his family and plead that you have mercy on them, himself, and on the whole world. May Marco Polo pray the prayer: "Father, forgive them for they know not what they do. Should Marco Polo ever have to spend some time away from his family or if he can talk with them about how they make him feel, then that would be in order. But let him always have mercy in his heart for them and always find a safe refuge in his being where You dwell with him and are there to comfort him always, protecting him from the blows of his neighbors and indwelling with the virtues of faith, hope, and love to sustain him. Help him to always be filled with love and to serve as a good example for his family. Amen.
