Without going into too many details, there was an altercation at work.
This was someone with a short temper who does not handle being corrected well. This person threatened me, would not let go of me when I asked, but the only witness was a friend of the other person who said they were defending themselves.
I made a very strong effort not to yell, fight or even look threatening because I could not look like a bully to HR. Without giving too much biographical information away, I know how to fight but knew I could not allow anger to rule situation. I regret swearing at the end, but I was, and am still, feeling unsafe about this person.
HR is investigating so in the meantime we are both suspended. I need this job, but I’ve made it very clear I will never feel safe with this person. There is no walking back from this, we are too far gone.
I’m praying this person is fired (he’s only been working for two weeks, is still on probation) so he won’t harm himself or anyone else at work.
He is also someone who feels life has been constantly unfair to him. I’m praying he can find his vocation, a way to control his emotional and mental health, and turn to God.
Last week a priest suggested before the new year, I find one person who needs help and go out of my way to help him. I feel unsafe with this person, but have decided to offer prayers for him. I recognize this is very strange to pray for the wellbeing of someone who nearly hit me while actively praying he be fired.
I ask everyone else to pray for this person as well. Despite everything, I don’t feel any hateful feelings towards him. Fear? Yes. But for the most part, I feel pity.
