I attended a fabulous retreat with Miles Christi this weekend…silent retreat based on St. Ignatius’ Spiritual Exercises. It was incredible! Now I’m having a bit of the “post retreat blues”, especially since the silence is gone, the phone has to be turned back on, and I have to get back to living and working in the real world. I’m a little scared!

I need prayers to help keep me moving on the forward track the Exercises got me onto. Please say a little prayer for me and all the other retreatants if you can.

And prayers of thanksgiving for our wonderful holy priests who serve God so well!

Cecilia, may the Holy Spirit help you and the other retreatants to carry the graces and enthusiasm into daily life.

Dear Jesus and Mary you spent most of your lives living with ordinary things, no phones of course, but the noisiness of nearby homes and streets, and the natural distractions of ordinary occupations. You have times of peace and of deep prayer, and you carried these through all aspects of life. Please help Cecilia, her fellow retreatants, and all who go through retreat experiences, to live these in their daily lives even when the highs have passed and the resolutions are harder to inculcate in the activities of ordinary life.

May the Holy Spirit remain with you and all the others!

Praying! I went on several silent retreats many years ago and enjoyed them greatly!

Now the retreat continues 🙂 , as you are able to keep that silent intimacy with the Creator in the midst of all the noise. He is hidden, resting silently in your soul in the form of the new born Emmanuel. Let the noise be noise, you keep your interior peace and stillness, so the Holy Childs’ sleep does not get disturbed. You are playing the role of Mary now, the wise protective mother. When noise tries to creep in you, like anger, anxiety, stress, etc. You remember the Holy Child is sleeping, like an innocent lamb in your soul, and you will not allow the noise to get in.
May the Lord your God bless you and keep you…and Mother Mary guide you.

:hug1: Wow, Galilea, that was so beautiful. I’ll keep your words in mind.

Thanks everyone, for the prayers. I’m doing a little better after seeing that I can hang in for a couple of days. I cried when I left the retreat house because I didn’t want to come back home. But home is good, and my parish is right up the road for adoration anytime, thanks be to God! Continuing the fight… 🙂

Years ago, I used to be a Rector at a retreat house in NY, so I know that feeling of wanting to stay at the retreat house. Boy do I miss those days! But before I sent people home, after sunday mass, I would remind them…that the real retreat started when they left those doors. Jesus has now given you new strength, gifts and weapons to be that soldier that He needs us to be. Some people through the years, made it a habbit to come back over and over, to repeat the first stage retreat, and I knew from their stories that they were strugling at home and at other parts of their lives. I tried my best to explain to them, that “It is you, that the Lord called to change, not the ones around you. The whole world will be the same when you go out there, it is how you choose to use your new gifts out there, that will make the difference.”
But, I also knew that some of them, were like little lambs, going back to live among wolves, so their suffering was great, and the retreat house became a safe house. The plain reality is, that life in Jesus is so inexplicably beautiful and joyful, that many of us wish, that people would just “really get it” and transform their lives and make this world a true Christ experience. There would be less noise and less suffering.
