Prayer for Hostages

Our Lord Jesus, in Your holy Gospel, You proclaimed:

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me,
because he has anointed me
to bring glad tidings to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim liberty to captives
and recovery of sight to the blind,
to let the oppressed go free,
and to proclaim a year acceptable to the Lord.”
(Luke 4:18-19, NABRE)

We implore you, Our Beloved Savior, to look with mercy
upon the people held captive by ISIS. Comfort them
in their terror. By the power of Your Holy Angels, shield
these captives from rape and all other forms and physical
and mental abuse. And please make a way for them
to be freed. By the power of Your Holy Cross, change
the hearts of ISIS members and their supporters. I humbly
ask you to help these people. Amen.

Prayed for the immediate rescue of these hostages, in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.
 
Saint Michael, the archangel, defend us in battle, be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil, may God rebuke him, we humbly pray. And do you, O’ Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God thrust into Hell Satan and all the other evil spirits who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls.
