History? God tells us from beginning to end how things are going to go. It is up to us to follow Him and His Word and Will or choose our own way.

You have to understand that it is God who sets up everything and forbids whatever is not to be set up.
Jer 51:27; Da 2:44
Le 26:1; De 27:4; 1Sa 9:24; 15:11; 2Sa 7:12; 2Ki 8:12; 2Ch 6:10; Ezr 4:19; 6:11; Ne 6:1; 7:1; Job 16:12; 19:8; Ps 69:29; Pr 8:23; Isa 49:22; Jer 4:6; 23:4; 24:6; 50:9; Eze 14:3; 21:15; 24:8,25; 28:2,14; 34:23; Da 3:14; Ho 8:4; 11:8; Ac 15:16

Jesus is the ultimate authority!

Philippians 2:5-11 ** Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:** Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Do we find a pope here? Or an apostle? or a prophet? I don’t think so.

Jesus. Amen.

Sure. You can find the entire line of popes going all the way back to St. Peter. That’s history.

Sooooo…if I understand you correctly, you think it was a good thing?

thanks for that…

Two points were not covered.
When the Normans Invaded England part of their army was made up of Britons who had been driven out of England by the Angles and Saxons. I find this very ironic.
But more important was the many wars between England and France based on English claims to France through the Norman Connection.
These wars brought us St Joan and lead to Europe as we know it.

Basically I see the Norman Invasion as negative.

The Normans established a new ruling Class on top of Saxon civilisation that did a lot to destroy the lively Saxon culture of the time.

Most people don’t realise how oppressive the “Norman Yoke” was, because modern historians tend to gloss over it. The Normans had an immense superiority comple over the Saxons, and virtualy established an *Apartheid * segregated state that lasted 300 years. ALL the top jobs. ALL the nobility, suddenly became Norman, speaking French, and ruling by dictat from behind castle walls. Where the old lords had lived in the communities and sought advice from locals, the Normans did no such thing.

What this did was to destroy Saxon written culture, court culture, art, and democratic tendencies. Saxons were no longer taught to read and write, their culture was despised. Culture became French and continental. Some of the tensions of this period appear in the Robin Hood legend. It gave rise to a strong and bitter class system which endures to this day.

It took until 1350 for English to become the language of State and discourse again.

One side effect of this was the Lack of an English Bible for much of the Middle Ages. Most English speakers could not read or write from 1070 to 1360, so there was no market for an English Bible. There were translations into Norman French. This, not the “evil Catholic Church”, was the reason for there being no early Bible in English.
