This Thursday we were working at the local food kitchen and were told that 5 of the homeless people had frozen to death this month. I haven’t been able to get this out of mind. The temps here have been in the single digits or below, and very windy harsh conditions. I am thinking of all the people I always see in line waiting to be served. Those who are old, those with children, those who are disabled, those who were just released from jail, those who are just down on their luck. No matter the reason, no matter how hard things are for them, they always, always, return a smile with a smile, and a God Bless you, with a God Bless you. When you are getting ready to fall to sleep in your nice warm bed tonight, and think your cross is so very heavy, please take a moment to pray for those who are starving, freezing with no where to go. Please pray that our leaders are inspired to open more warming shelters, more places where these people can get out of the elements whether it is to protect them from intense heat or freezing cold. I am going to try and think of what they have to endure whenever I feel my cross is to heavy. Thank you dear prayer warriors, and God Bless you.

Dear God,
Watch over your children,
Especially those with no homes to return to at the end of long and weary days.
Protect them from all harm and keep them from despair.
Open the hearts and eyes of those of us with blessings to share.
Unite our voices in a call for justice:
So that no man need ever lay down for the night on a wooden park bench because he has no home;
So that no woman need ever tuck her children into the backseat of her car because she has no home;
So that no child need ever wonder, “Where will I feel safe?” because he or she has no home;
So that all those who wander and all who are in need, find the shelter and the peace they seek.
Remind us, O God, that we cannot rest fully secure in our homes each night until all your children are, at last, home.
Amen.
