I pray daily to St. Dymphna for them!
Loving God,Our Father,
Who art in heaven,
Hallowed be Thy Name.
Thy kingdom come,
Thy Will be done,
On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from evil.
Hail Mary, full of Grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
St. Dymphna, pray for us. St. Therese, pray for us. Blessed Louis Martin, pray for us.
Lord, hear our prayer.I really can’t say why I’m crying over a bunch of people I don’t even know praying for people who are mentally ill, but I am. As one who has struggled so often with depression and anxiety since the age of 12, some years of my life I have been quite “functional”, and other years less so. I became a Catholic about 21 years ago. I so very much see suffering in those around me, and I try to help them in whatever way that I can, whatever their religious beliefs. I try to encourage people in understanding the many types of mental illnesses there are, and how difficult sometimes it is for them to be consistent in their walk with God. I suppose I feel grateful, and humbled, because even I have not remembered my brothers and sisters in the faith who carry these particular burdens in prayer as I should. So let me start today.
Right now, Lord, I bring before you my petition for those struggling with all diseases of the mind, and their family members. Remember them in your mercy, this day, and every day. Hold them up in their hardships, and help me to remember to do this also. Jesus, I know that you know suffering so much more intimately than I ever have, so touch those who need it today with your gentleness and love and patience. Also, Lord, for those thinking about suicide today I especially pray. Thank you Jesus, for your faithfulness when I have been wayward.![]()

Loving God,My Lord, I know you are love itself, the beginning and the ending of love. Bring love into the hearts of all who suffer from mental illness and other brain disorders. Bring comfort and guidance. Inspire those who have made their life’s work the cure and treatment of these, your precious children. Holy Spirit, let my heart be full of compassion whenever my path crosses anyone who suffers. Let me be a living witness to the living God, in what I do and what I say. I pray especially today for the woman that I take to her mental health appointments, and I am humbled by her lack of almost anything that I consider a reasonable living standard. Her house is falling down, her clothes do not fit. Let me heed your words tomorrow when I see her, “To whom much is given, much is required…” I have a car; I have gasoline; I have the love with which You have loved us. Let me give these things without thought of spiritual gain, make my heart innocent, help my words to be tender.
For those who would like to remember her specifically in your prayers, I will call her “Mrs. S.”
In the name of our Lord Jesus, I pray.
Amen
