Just stumbled upon this article discussing the rise of paganism in Armenia. Adherents of the country’s ancient religion–according to one poll–numbered thirty-two percent in 2004/2005, despite the almost ninety-eight percent Christian majority in Armenia as reported by the CIA World Factbook.
This startling news prompts me to turn to you.
Let us pray for (1) the revival of Oriental and Eastern Orthodoxy in Armenia and Georgia, and (2) the spread of the Christian faith among those countries’ minorities as well as the Muslim/secular majority in Azerbaijan, Chechnya, Ingushetia, Daghestan, and neighbouring Russian provinces.
Jesus Christ, we beseech you to reveal yourself to the millions of former Soviet citizens inhabiting the North and South Caucasus in a profound and undeniable way!
Amen.
