For the validity of Indulgences in the Year of Mercy

Pope Francis’s Jubilee Year of Mercy is coming to a close towards the end of this month. I know some people who have been putting it off, or have forgotten about it (see: me) are rushing to obtain their plenary indulgence before the year ends.
I would really appreciate some prayers for validity of the indulgence. I think a lot of people see indulgences as a sort of coupon to go straight to heaven, when that is not so. I want to be truly detached from my sins, truly humbled by this experience, truly open to God’s everlasting love and mercy. Please pray for myself, for my parents, and for anyone else who is confessing, praying for the Holy Father’s intentions, meditating on mercy, and making a pilgrimage to a Holy Door, that it all may be done in pure heart, correctly, and with validity.

I have always had trouble with the Sacrament of Reconciliation, with the candidness of it and feeling scrupulous about whether or not I received the sacrament validly. So, I ask for your prayers for God’s guidance for myself and for all confessing in the next couple of weeks.
