Please pray for alcoholics to find the inner strength to ask for help. So many hide their addiction very well. They drink in isolation and suffer in silence. You might be sitting next to an alcoholic right now. 😦

Lord Jesus,You said,
“I have come to set the captives free.”
We are captive and need Your healing touch.
Free us, Lord, from our addictions,
so that we will be:
…free from the cares and worries that stifle our happiness;
…free from sins that cling to us, and to which we cling;
…free from all compulsive behavior
that prevents us from becoming what You, Lord,
have planned for us.
Bring us, loving Savior,
to the experience of abundant life
which You promised.

Amen.

We pray for all those addicted to alcohol to reach out for help and that God in his mercy will lessen or take away their desire to drink or the strength to resist temptation.

I pray they will find a a support group among family and friends or groups like AA that will help them feel not so isolated.

Mary.

My youngest son is an Alcoholic…please pray for him. I know first hand how devastating this illness can be. My ex-husband (his father) was also an Alcoholic and his drinking and everything that came with it broke up our marriage. This is a horrible disease, not only for the Alcoholic but everyone involved.

I am praying for all addicts and their families and friends

I will keep your youngest son in my prayers. I hope he is in AA or treatment or God will guide him to such. Alanon of course is a good resource for family members for family members and I’m sorry alcohol has caused so much devastation in your life

Hopefully we will find a cure some day to this illness.
Mary.

God grant us the serenity to accept the things we cannot change.
The courage to change the things we can.
And the wisdom to know the difference.

One day at a time !

Easy does it !

A A has kept me sober for 30 years !

I’m praying for you Mary. It is a horrible illness and it does break up families. I don’t think the average person knows how easy it is to become an alcoholic and how hard it is to stop drinking. May God be with you and your son.

O glorious Saint Therese,
whom Almighty God has raised up to aid and counsel mankind,
I implore your Miraculous Intercession.

So powerful are you in obtaining every need of body and soul
our Holy Mother Church proclaims you a “Prodigy of Miracles…
the Greatest Saint of Modern Times.”

Now I fervently beseech you to*** answer my petition for those addicted
to alcohol, especially Phil and his long suffering and patient wife and family***,
and to carry out your promises
of spending Heaven doing good upon the earth…
of letting fall from Heaven a Shower of Roses.

Henceforth, dear Little Flower, I will fulfill your plea
“to be made known everywhere” and I will never cease
to lead others to Jesus through you.

Amen.

The thing about alcoholism,is most people associate it with the down and out bum on the street corner holding a brown bag with his booze n it.The sad reality is alcoholism runs the gamut from this to functioning alcoholics which ncludes binge drinking.
So many people live in denial about their drinking problem.I deal with this in my own family.
My husband can quit drinking for weeks,no problem, yet when he does drink ,he more often than not will overdo it.
My youngest daughter is the same way.She is pregnant, hasn’t has a drop of alcohol during her pregnancy, says she over it ,won’t drink again.I pray this is the case, her husband likes to binge drink n the weekends…
I pray daily for all who struggle with this addiction and others as well.

On their behalf I pray:

"Lord Jesus,You said,
“I have come to set the captives free.”

Hail Mary, Full of Grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, and blest is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death.

Amen.

Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Amen.

Thank you everyone for your prayers for my son and my family. We sure can use all the prayers we can get. He is a stubborn alcoholic who refuses treatment and continues drinking. It is horrible for me to watch him destroy his life and I can’t do anything about it because he an adult. He is 28 years old so I can’t force him to get treatment. His father is finally sober but it took the death of his mother for him to do it. Even my leaving him didn’t do it. He put us in financial ruin but he was able to keep his job so he was a functioning alcoholic. He has been sober for ten years and goes to AA meetings. He was lucky. I pray that my son will get help before he completely ruins his life and I would like to see him sober and happy before I die.

Mary

Memorare

REMEMBER, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thy intercession was left unaided. Inspired with this confidence, I fly to thee, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother; to thee do I come; before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me. Amen.

St. Michael the Archangel,
defend us in battle.
Be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the Devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray,
and do thou,
O Prince of the heavenly hosts,
by the power of God,
thrust into hell Satan,
and all the evil spirits,
who prowl about the world
seeking the ruin of souls.
Amen.
