Let me make this clear. I am not against tradition and love the EF of the Mass. I know that the Faith of the Church has been largely watered down over the last 50 years by its leaders. There is a restoration happening under Pope Benedict XVI and with God’s help I hope that we follow his lead and heal the wounds caused by such radical changes and poor leadership.

My question is to those who participate in Masses of SSPX. I recognize that the SSPX offers the TLM and it is the tradition of the Church. I am not against that. What I question is if you all seriously look at what they teach? I’ve been interested in looking at different options to attend a TLM but I cannot help but see the teachings of SSPX. Their FAQ has taught me they have A LOT of problems with Vatican II and post teachings. There are too many to list here as each is good topic to cover deeply. They essentially go against much of what Rome has taught since the council. How can you all go to a Mass and ignore their beef with Rome? The Society essentially looks like it is claiming to have more truth than the Church by using its tradition against itself. After much thought I don’t think I could go to a SSPX chapel in good conscience with so much opposition towards Rome…all to attend the TLM.
 
I have been to lots of SSPX Masses over the years and once met the Archbishop. I have never been taught anything contrary to solid Catholic dogma.
I personally attend the FSSP parish as often as I can but I certainly will not criticize the SSPX. I’ll let them and Rome thrash things out. I don’t get involved in those issues.
God’s will be done.
 
I read alot of tracts and documents when being drawn back into Catholicism, I was studying Buddhism at the time.

I prayed and attend SPPX chapels. In the end I left it in the good Lords hands. Canonical law makes this little girls head ache.

I n summary, because there was so much confusion and deviance with and after V2, my take on the SPPX caution with doctrinal changes has been…we were walking on the straight and narrow of the road set at our feet by Our Saviour and Holy Mother the Church, and when V2 happened the road was obscured by a blanket of fog, so inching their forward or holding still until the way ahead becomes clear;…seemed a good analogy to me.
 
Holy smokes!! I came here looking for an answer about a very small traditional Catholic church that has moved to my town and can barley understant the writing here. What the heck is SSPX? I’ve figured out TLM , EF, OF and so on.

Now If I may ask a question, Are these Churchs that don’t believe in V2 still recognized by the Vatican? I’e always hd some problems with V2 and am thinking of leaving my parish for this small church.

SSPX clergy are suspended so you should’t go to their chapels for mass or any of the sacraments.

Not all traditional parishes are SSPX. You should find out who runs the parish. Call the diocese and ask if this parish is an approved Catholic parish.

I think the archbishop was there. he knows what happened. he is a holy man who fought for the Church until he died. you can go wherever you want to, but dont come here to bash this holy man.

As long as the priest is validly ordained, and they have not stricken the prayers for the pope, you are good to go. 🙂

You’ll know soon enough if they are of the “vacant chair” mindset, which I’d recommend you avoid.

Actually, the OP can post anything that the webmaster or moderators permit him to post. And this “holy man,” to use your terminology, died excommunicate. That’s not bashing, that’s objective, demonstrable, historical fact.

Neither did he make them publicly; they were an answer to ONE person. Who published them without his permission.

Well of course he must not recommend it lol. I knew that was in the text. The fact remains, he acknowledged it is not a sin nor schismatic to fulfill one’s obligation. He has never retracted that statement.
