For those haunted by memories

Enough said. I guess I would want to include myself in the intention as well; I still have memories which still cause me pain and shame. Thank God I’m getting better with therapy and prayer; I still pray though for my continued and full recovery.

St. Dymphna, pray for us!
 
O God,
  • keep us safe,
  • let us have serenity over our memories,
  • at the end of the day give us an Abundant Life.

Lord, we thank you for the person you have allowed us to be, right now, today.
In your eternal wisdom Lord, you give us purpose and meaning, starting right here today, as we are.
In your resurrection Lord, we begin anew every day.

If you have been to Confession, then you have been forgiven, so no need for shame and pain. Trust God, HE loves you so much more than you love your pain and shame. Don’t dwell on it. Remember the parable of the “Prodigal Son.” Jesus told us that for a reason. To tell us how forgiving our Heavenly Father is. And how much HE loves us. God Bless, Memaw

Beautiful - thank you! I have been haunted with what if’s and shoud have/would have’s but, thanks to God, I realized that all was in His plan. Hard to understand without faith but all is possible with faith. [BIBLEDRB][/BIBLEDRB]

Lord, with your healing love, please cleanse all wounds, spiritual and temporal, of memory. Uplift those burdened by unpleasantries of the past and sustain them in joyfully persevering for the rest of their days. Please send angels to minister to them in these darkened times that they not lose hope or become paralyzed by despairing thoughts. Have mercy, Lord. Our Lady, angels, and saints, pray with us. Amen.

99% of shame is given by perpetrators and tormentors, and by those complicit, through trauma (which is also inherited) and not through our own actions.

O God,
  • keep us safe,
  • let us have serenity over our memories,
  • give us an Abundant Life.

The three “bullet points” describe the intertwined parts of the journey we own, all of which we must tread all our lives (we’d be stupid if we didn’t). Counselling or similar is sought on our initiative and on our terms.

This my exact cross the last two years.
Looking in the rear view mirror and discovering terror and anxiety at my past sinfulness, and the consequences it has on other people like family.

God washes away the sinfulness, but the consequences are hard to deal with…
Alienation , isolation. Feelings of ineptitude and worthlessness .
But:
God turns all things to his glorious will.
Thank you God for this day, this life, these challenges.
May your goodness shine through us, so that others see how good you are.

Not sure of the statistics but plenty of our shame and pain is caused from our own actions and quilt. And sometimes our inability to forgive ourselves or to believe that God would forgive us. God Bless, Memaw
 
Eternal God , in whom mercy is endless,
and the treasury of compassion inexhastible ,
look kindly upon us and increase Your mercy in us ,
that in difficult moments we might not despair
nor become despondent , but with great confidence ,
submit ourselves to Your Holy Will ,
which is love and mercy itself . Amen
