“NOS-trai” (like “tie”) = classical

In Latin, “ae” is a diphthong; the vowels together form a new sound. You do not pronounce them separately. So neither of the pronunciations you posted is correct because they both split the “a” and “e.” If two vowels that form a diphthong are meant to be pronounced separately, there will be a mark above the second one (diaeresis/trema).
