For those of us experiencing earthquakes in Italy tonight

Dear friends

We have had more than 20 earthquakes here in central Italy tonight - two were significant and the last one was over 6 in magnitude, the house shook and the windows rattled.

We are sleeping downstairs tonight and have the car ready outside if we need to escape quickly with our dogs!

Please spare a prayer for our safety and for that of all our Italian neighbours, who have been coming out of their houses in a state of anxiety - it’s not long since the last major earthquake where so many people lost their lives, and people are still shaken up about it, understandably.

O Star of the Sea, help us, and show us that you are our Mother.

But the Church honors and invokes you universally as the patron of hopeless cases–of things despaired of. Pray for me who feels so hopeless. Make use, I implore you, of that particular privilege accorded to you of bringing visible and speedy help where help is almost despaired of. Come to my assistance in this great need, that I may receive the consolations and succor of heaven in all my necessities, tribulations and sufferings, in particular (those experiencing earthquakes in Italy, and that I may bless God with you and all the elect throughout eternity. I promise you, O Blessed St. Jude, to be ever mindful of this great favor, and I will never cease to honor you as my special and powerful patron, and to do all in my power to encourage devotion to you. Amen.

Thank you friends, for all your prayers. We had an anxious night but seem to have escaped with no damage here, thanks be to God and now we have daylight and dry weather. We are about 30km from the epicentre, it appears.

ISca; I am so very very sorry and with you in heart and prayer. We lost a dear family member in the big earthquake as you may remember…

Please, take every care and leave if you need to, The dogs will help you decide.

O God, who hast established the earth upon firm foundations, graciously receive the prayers of Thy people: and, having utterly removed the dangers of the shaken earth, turn the terrors of Thy divine wrath into the means of the salvation of mankind; that they who are of the earth, and unto earth shall return, may rejoice to find themselves citizens of heaven by means of a holy life. Thank you again for all your prayers, they are really appreciated. Our beautiful and ancient church was slightly damaged in the August earthquake, but I noticed that the doors were still open today. 🙂

The small tremors continue and my neighbours are anxious, which makes us a little more anxious than we were before! So, we are heading back to our home in the UK next week. We are lucky to have that option, most people don’t.

Once again, thank you and my prayers for all of you. This is a wonderful community!
