For those who feel like giving up prayer

Hi,
I sometimes post prayer requests for all those who are struggling with something similar to myself. I think of something I or someone I know is dealing with and I ask here for prayers for all people who are dealing with a similar issue.

Right now, and many times, I struggle with the temptation to give up praying. I feel like no amount of praying is going to do any good or help anyone. Honestly, that is one reason I like to pray the Rosary so much. I can pray for someone and know I have put in a concrete effort to pray for them. Sometimes I have to force myself to pray. Right now, I have a friend who is suffering a great deal and I am being tempted to think that none of my prayers are any help. I literally have to force myself to pray a Rosary for this person every day. But I feel like those prayers are of no effect. Still, I pray the Rosary every day for this person.

But I wanted to ask everyone here for prayers for all the people who are tempted to quit praying because they feel it doesn’t do any good. Sometimes I come on this forum and read the prayer requests of others, and I feel overwhelmed. Please pray that the prayers of people who struggle to pray are heard, and they are especially powerful with God. There are not enough people who believe in prayer and the power of a prayerful, even if difficult, conversation with God.

I would like to pray that more and more become decide to become pray-ers, and offer up all their intentions to God, and that more people know the beauty and grace of God’s gift of prayer to us.

I hope this prayer request is helpful and fruitful.

Word of advice; you might find that a different “prayer style” would help. That is, silent meditation rather than a rosary, or even “stream of consciousness”; where you just pour out your problems to God in conversation, rather than framing them with traditional prayers. Holy Spirit, be upon Your children today and every day. Bl. Theresa of Calcutta, pray for us.
 
Loving God please give us the grace to remain faithful when, to our human minds, You seem remote and disinterested.

Please help us to persevere though trials and losses that may shake our trust in You as attentive, loving God.

Yet, our God, how can we know what further dangers and evils might befall us or what good may be lost without Your grace and protection?

Saint Therese asked that if a father protects his child from breaking his leg, does he love him less than a father who allowed his fall but took tender care afterwards? We cannot know all good that has occurred or evil that might have happened had You not protected and blessed us. Thank You for safeguarding us!

Pleading for strength and grace, I choose to continue following You for others’ sake as much as for mine. In Your loving mercy let this choice endure and triumph. Please grant that it will endure and that Your blessings will fulfill Your desires in my life, and within the lives of those whom I love and serve as Your instrument and witness.

Prayer for Perseverance

Lord Jesus, help me to not fail, to not falter, to never give up or quit.
Rather, I ask humbly for your energy and wisdom and for your help that I will succeed in You in all that You have me do, from this day forward.
As Paul said, “I can do all things through Christ Who strengthens me.” (Ph 4:13)
And, Lord, You know better than I how weak I am. Of that I am sure.
My weakness by itself is not a sin. I know that. It but is a major need for You and Your divine grace.
For You said to Paul, and by Your gift, to us, as well:
“‘My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.’
“Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake.
“For when I am weak, then I am strong.” (2 Cor 12:-10)
