I wonder about these friends under evil forces. What does this mean? Does it mean they are tempted like all of and need prayer like all of us. Does it mean they are in spiritual warfare and under demonic oppression or demonic possession.

The church has clear guidelines to deal with oppression and possession. These guidelines keep us safe, ensure we do not tread where we are supposed to, discern if there really is demonic evil influence, ensure that qualified persons deal with it, and to protect those we identify as possessed or oppressed. By identifying others as under evil attack, we can cause great emotional/psychological injury and that is why , when the church discerns such things they engage psychologist and priest trained to deal with evil via exorcism.
 
Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to your protection, implored your help, or sought your intercession, was left forsaken.
Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto you, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother. To you do I come, before you I stand, sinful and sorrowful. Despise not my words, O Mother of the Word, but in your mercy, hear and answer me. Amen
