The request didn’t come from the priest.

That is true. John was calling people to repent and when he even rebuked the unrepentant Pharisees when they came over.

The parents have a right to who should go or not go.

Equally important??? Invitations:maybe, request to refrain: no. It seems to me that sacraments such as baptisms, weddings, ordinations, and maaa are public for a variety of reasons. An expression our communal nature as a church, assisting in evangelization, church buildings themselves are open to the public, etc. Adding all of these up, it is a very important ideal. I would go as far to say, that not understanding or even knowing that they are public events implies a lack of complete understanding of the sacrament itself.

Baptisms are celebrated as part of the regular Mass.
One cannot dictate attendance of the Mass.

The OP joined about two days ago, started a complaint thread (this one), got all the CAFers to duke it out amongst ourselves and vanished into the mist, never to be seen again.

I think I’m going to go on OP’s religion forum and complain about some mean Episcopalian lady and get them all fighting amongst themselves.

(No, I won’t really do it…😏)

He came back this morning I believe. He was confused as to the responses and asked for more answers.

And I certainly agree that they are public!!!

Yet, if you take away the Prudential judgment of the individual, then scandal will happen… not a question at all, a certainty… because it already has happened… and it won’t stop because it’s harder to tell a friend the truth when its profoundly deep.

This hurt the OP! But the Father was standing up against porneia!! Porneia is the demise of many!!!

OP, I have struggled with PORNEIA!!!

… and I most likely will be tempted to do so many times!!! CHRIST HAVE MERCY!!!

???

OP started a thread asking a question…not actually filing a complaint, and has been semi-active in the thread…are we reading the same thread?

He started the thread to ask a question. He posted this afternoon. You cannot blame the OP for how we all behave on this forum.
