Stereotypes about Asian woman/white man marriages were very different from interracial marriages involving one white and one black spouse, regardless of the genders involved. Asian women were and are fetishised as being more submissive, whereas black people of both genders were seen as less than people. These laws were largely made by racist white men terrified of black men ‘stealing’ ‘their’ women who saw nothing hypocrital in fetishising women of other ethnicities.
